卡迪夫大学可接受多种语言成绩信息更新 Cardiff University will accept the Duolingo English Test and the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition for entry to academic and pre-sessional programmes in 2020.

TOEFL iBT Home Edition TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition is available in all countries globally, with the exception of mainland China and Iran. Applicants can register to take the test at the ETS TOEFL website: https://www.ets.org/s/cv/toefl/at-home/

Cardiff University will accept and administer test results in exactly the same way as it does for TOEFL iBT test takers presently. Accepted scores and equivalences will be exactly the same as our existing TOEFL iBT requirements, listed here. Students who take this test can arrange to submit results to Cardiff University as per the normal TOEFL process.

Duolingo English Test The Duolingo English Test is available worldwide, and students can find further information on how to register for and take the test at: https://englishtest.duolingo.com/ . We are also recommending students pay close attention to the FAQ information at: https://testcenter.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=prepare&commit=Search

Cardiff University is now listed as an accepting institution in the Duolingo ‘Send results’ section, and students taking the test can select to share their results with us via this option on the Duolingo website.

We can confirm our Duolingo equivalences to IELTS as below: IELTS requirement 5.5 6.0 6.5 with 5.5 in all sub-scores 6.5 with 6.0 in any or all sub-scores 7.0 with 6.0 in all sub-scores 7.0 with 6.5 in any or all sub-scores 7.5 with 6.5 in all sub-scores 7.5 with 7.0 in any or all sub-scores Duolingo equivalence 95 105 110 115 120 125 130 135

Please note: if students have already taken an acceptable English language test and achieved the required score, they do not need to take either of the above tests. Information on the full range of English language tests and qualifications we accept can be seen here.

We have also made some changes in two other important areas - academic qualifications and references.

Academic qualifications We know that some students are unable to receive awards or qualifications as they normally would. So, for international applicants who have had their exams disrupted, with a final grade/mark awarded but no final exam taking place, we will accept the final grade awarded by the examination body. We will also accept this grade in future years if students decide to apply at a later date.

In addition to this - for international applicants to Undergraduate programmes who choose to retake their exams at a later date with the hope of achieving an improved grade, we will be happy to defer their place to 2021. We will guarantee them the same offer conditions as they were originally given, as long as they apply by the relevant application deadline. We will be in contact soon to confirm our approach to deferrals for Postgraduate applicants.

References For Postgraduate Taught applicants who require a reference as part of their application process, we no longer need them to provide this as a signed letter, on headed paper. We can now accept references as an email, as long as the email comes from a school, university or company email account, and is accompanied by the reference-giver’s job title and contact details.

If applicants have not been asked to supply a reference, this means that their programme does not require a reference, and the above information is not relevant to their application.
