Further to our previous message, this email provides an update for our education partner agencies on developments in New Zealand and at Massey University. As the COVID-19 situation continues to escalate globally, all Massey students (both domestic and international) are naturally anxious about the disruption to their studies. These are uncertain times, but I wanted to assure you, as one of our partner agencies, that we are continuing to work very hard to keep our students safe and well supported during this difficult period.

As you will no doubt have heard, the Prime Minister of New Zealand has announced the country has moved to a Level 4 lockdown, for four weeks. This change in alert level means our University campuses have now ceased face-to-face teaching and all educational facilities nationwide will close, other than for the maintenance of essential services, such as those supporting students in accommodation. Other student services, like health and counselling and the Library, will deliver their services online.

To allow students the opportunity to focus on themselves and their families at this difficult time, Massey has decided to commence mid-semester break immediately (two weeks early). The semester will recommence on April 20, in a digital environment, for all our students. Student accommodation on all three campuses will remain open for all international student residents and we will continue to provide residents with the food, care and support services required throughout this period.

The messages we have provided to all our students include:

l All courses that have moved online will resume after the semester break (20 April), so please continue to engage with your studies from home. –所有课程将从4.20起转到线上 l The Library and other student services will be open for online services only. All face-to-face services have now ceased. l The deadline of all assessments due before the mid-semester break will be moved to the week of 20 April, or later. l A more comprehensive update on the implications for end-of-semester exams will be coming out shortly. l All classes that require specialist equipment, labs or studios are suspended and the relevant course coordinators will be in touch to explain what this means for students taking specific courses. l Recreation centres, daycare centres and food services, other than catering services for our students in campus accommodation, are now closed. l We encourage our students to regularly check Stream and www.massey.ac.nz/coronavirus for further updates.

We have also launched a special grant for students suffering hardship due to COVID-19. We believe this will help students to stay focused on their own wellbeing and learning during this challenging time. Students can apply for a grant of NZD $750.00 at COVID19.musa.org.nz/apply-here 学生可以在COVID19.musa.org.nz/apply-here申请750新西兰元的奖学金
