You may have heard the new measures announced by the Australian Government to slow the speed of transmission of COVID-19 in Australia and, most importantly, protect those most vulnerable in our community. 你可能已经听说了澳大利亚政府宣布的新措施,以减缓COVID-19在澳大利亚的传播速度,最重要的是,保护学生及教职员工等。

In response to this, UQ has made the decision to pause all coursework teaching at the University, including lectures and tutorials in person and online, at the University from Monday 16 March for one week only (read here). Teaching will resume on Monday 23 March. 为此,昆士兰大学决定从3月16日(周一)起,暂停所有在该大学的课程教学,包括讲座和在线教程,为期一周(请点击此处阅读)。教学将于3月23日星期一恢复。

During this week, our campuses will remain open and staff will continue working. 在这一周,我们的校园将继续开放,工作人员将继续工作。 In pausing our teaching for a week, this will also provide staff with the time needed to prioritise the work critical to supporting our students to complete their studies this academic year. This work aims to: Ensure the vast majority of lectures and tutorials are available online from Monday 23 March Amend course delivery to meet the new social distancing guidelines Assess if practicals and lab sessions need to be amended or rescheduled Make adjustments to the academic calendar, which may include rescheduling graduation ceremonies and assessments.

Impact on students in transit to Australia

The additional 14-day self-isolation requirement announced by the Australian Government yesterday, means that if students are currently in transit, they will not be able to attend campus by 23 March as planned.

UQ acknowledges this is an unfortunate and unforeseen outcome, and we do not want our students to be disadvantaged by this. As such, for any student in self-isolation in Australia on 23 March, we will support them in continuing their studies online during the self-isolation period. When students arrive in Australia, please advise them to contact Student Services on student.services@uq.edu.au or (07) 3365 1704 as soon as possible. Students are still able to book an airport transfer to their accommodation.

Any student who cannot arrive in Australia before the 23 March, will need to withdraw or defer as previously advised.
